Feb. 5 - GROVE CITY, Pa. – The regular season came to a close Saturday for the Bethany College swimming and diving teams with PAC defeats at Grove City.

The women’s team suffered a 111-94 loss to the Wolverines, which completed BC’s season with a record of 4-8-1. Senior Cynthia Richardson (Moody, Ala./Moon Area-Pa.) claimed first place in a pair of events. She won the 100 Back by more than six seconds with a winning time of 1:10.36. Richardson was also credited with first place in the 200 Back by touching in a time of 2:33.81.

Also winning an event was junior Sarah Atkins (Heath, Ohio), who took first in the 100 Breast.

The men’s team was defeated by Grove City 104-91. Bethany’s top points came in the diving events. Sophomore Vinnie Giangiulio (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) took first in both, scoring 168.35 to win the one-meter competition and totaling 143.60 to take first on the three-meter board. He just edged out freshman teammate Zak Cofini (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) for wins in both events, as Cofini was the runner-up in the one-meter (157.45) and three-meter (141.30) competitions.

Now with the regular season in the books, the Bison will continue preparation for the 2011 PAC Championships/Grove City Invitational, which will be held February 16-19.
