BETHANY, W.Va. – More than 70 students will present research projects and other academic pursuits during the annual Bethany College Scholarship Symposium from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15, via Zoom.

Bethany College Scholarship SymposiumThe projects span the liberal arts curriculum, representing mathematics, chemistry, biology, computer science, psychology, religion, physical education, business, economics, and communications. Artistic pursuits also are featured.

“The Bethany College Symposium of Scholarship showcases the research that our talented students are doing. We have presentations of research and class projects as well as theater performances, poetry readings, and rock and guitar ensembles,” said Dr. David DeIuliis, co-director of the Scholarship Symposium and assistant professor of communications and media arts. “All together these projects and performances represent the best of Bethany.”

The students will present their work either individually or collaboratively in prerecorded or live formats.

After canceling the Scholarship Symposium in 2020 because of COVID-19, Bethany adapted the event to a digital format to adhere to health precautions on campus. The Zoom event will feature eight breakout rooms with students presenting simultaneously.

The Scholarship Symposium follows a more than a weeklong Honors celebration, during which Bethany has announced departmental awards recognizing exceptional students. On Thursday, the college will announce its all-campus award winners in a series of social media posts throughout the day. Newly inducted members of campus and departmental honor societies will also be announced.
