Media Executive Jimmy Veres ’70 to Deliver Bethany’s Commencement Address

BETHANY, W.Va. – A Bethany College alumnus who went on to a distinguished career as a media executive will deliver the school’s commencement address.

Jimmy Veres ’70 is an independent consultant to international media, including in the United States, Germany, Spain, India, United Kingdom and Australia.

Veres is a former executive vice president of creative affairs for SONY Entertainment; senior vice president of creative affairs at Columbia Pictures; vice president of creative affairs at Tri-Star Pictures; and director of development, drama, for Universal Studios.

Some examples of his projects include “Long Lost Son,” “Green Sails,” and several “Hart to Hart” movies.

After graduating from Bethany with B.A. in Sociology, Veres studied film at New York University.

Veres’ swimming career landed him in the Bethany College Athletic Hall of Fame, and he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.

Commencement is at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at Don Ault Field at Bison Stadium.
