BETHANY, W.Va. – The sixth annual Ann Wilkin Trombadore Women and Leadership Weekend returns to Bethany College on March 20 and 21.

Pomerantz

The conference will kick off at 6 p.m. March 20 with dinner and a keynote address, “A Conversation with Wise Women,” featuring Martha Pomerantz, partner of Evercore Wealth Management in Minneapolis. The conversation will be moderated by Beth Van Riper Miller ’79, owner of and consultant with BVRM LLC.

The dinner is open to all Bethany College female students, faculty and staff, and alumnae.

Pomerantz is a leader in Evercore’s Wise Women program, which hosts events that empower women of all ages to take responsibility for their financial futures. She serves on the board of trustees for Miss Porter’s School, a girls’ boarding school in Farmington, Conn. She is the treasurer for the Minnesota Women’s Economic Roundtable and is a member of the Women Presidents’ Organization.

Miller

Miller graduated from Bethany with a degree in mathematics and economics. She began her career on Wall Street in information technology at Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter. In 2007, Miller made a career change into education and became a middle school and library media specialist in the Atlanta area.  She retired in 2018, and now serves as a consultant in instructional technologies and educational services.

Kristina Martinez, executive vice president and creative director at BD&E, opens the second day of the weekend on March 21, at 9:30 a.m., with “The Brand of You.”  With more than 30 years at the Pittsburgh company, Martinez has made significant contributions to the firm’s success in branding, design, marketing, business development, and client relations.

All Bethany female juniors and seniors and alumnae are invited. A continental breakfast will be served.

Martinez

From 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Kristen Sorth, director of the St. Louis County Library, will present “Lunch and Learn: Stories from Behind the Stacks.”

In 2013, Sorth became St. Louis County Library’s first female director. Under her leadership, the library has embarked on a multi-million dollar capital campaign that, to date, has renovated or replaced 18 branches. The library has also focused on building community partnerships to provide innovative programming and cultural enrichment.

“Lunch and Learn” is open to all alumnae and female students, faculty, and staff.

The Women and Leadership conference is named for distinguished Bethany alumna Ann Wilkin Trombadore, a native of Wheeling, W.Va., who grew up in Wellsburg, W.Va. She graduated magna cum laude from Bethany with a degree in economics in 1951 and received her law degree from the University of Michigan in 1954.

Sorth

Trombadore was an active member of the Bethany College Board of Trustees for more than two decades, was the recipient of the Distinguished Service to Alma Mater award in 1996 and was made an Emeritus Life Trustee member following the 1998-99 school year.

The goal of Women and Leadership Weekend is to unite students and alumnae to promote the role of women and leadership and to create lasting mentorship opportunities.
