Commencement Speaker Senator Shelley Moore Capito

Bethany College is honored to announce Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) as the distinguished commencement speaker for the Class of 2024.

Capito brings a wealth of experience and wisdom to inspire and empower the graduating students as they embark on their next chapter.

Serving the Mountain State since 2001, Capito consistently demonstrates a commitment to her constituents and a passion for making a positive impact on her community. She continues to be a champion for bipartisan collaboration and a tireless advocate for the people of West Virginia. Her commitment to public service and leadership makes her a respected figure in national politics and an exemplary role model for the graduating class.

Capito has also shown her support for Bethany College’s initiatives, including efforts to pursue federal grant opportunities. Notably, her support of endorsing the College’s $2.2 million dollar Title III grant was critical in securing the award to support expanding student success and retention efforts.

“I am truly honored to be the commencement speaker for Bethany College’s Class of 2024,” says Capito. “As these graduates prepare to embark on the next chapter of their lives, I am eager to share in the excitement of their achievements and offer insights gained from my years of public service. Bethany College has a rich history of instilling values that foster positive change, and I look forward to addressing this exceptional graduating class. Congratulations to the graduates, and I am confident that their futures hold boundless opportunities for success and impact.”

Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi expresses excitement about Capito’s involvement, saying, “We are honored to have Senator Shelley Moore Capito as our commencement speaker for 2024. Her commitment to fostering positive change aligns perfectly with the values we instill in our graduates at Bethany College. Sen. Capito’s address promises to be an inspiring and memorable moment for our graduating class.”
