Title IX

Title IX/Sex Discrimination

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under, any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”

Bethany College is committed to the safety and well-being of all its community members. In order to accomplish this goal Bethany offers multiple resources for victims of sexual discrimination or harassment. Bethany College encourages victims to report any form or harassment or discrimination.

If you are in need of immediate assistance, please find a safe place and call Campus Safety and Security at 304.829.7744 or 911.

Title IX Policy

On October 8, 2021, the Bethany College Board of Trustees approved this Title IX/Sex Discrimination Policy that covers the entire Bethany College campus including students, faculty, employees, and some visitors. The Policy offers remedies to victims, ensures thorough and proper investigations of all complaints, and provides resources to complainants and respondents.

All Bethany College employees, excluding the College Counselor, Wellness Center employees, and College Chaplain, are mandated reporters regarding incidents of sexual violence, harassment, and discrimination. Information regarding Mandatory Reporters and their responsibilities is available in the Title IX Policy.
