BETHANY, W.Va. – Eight Bethany College students and three faculty members will present research at the Eastern Psychology Association’s annual meeting in March in New York.

The Bethany representatives at the March meeting are senior Kelsey Meintel, of Moundsville, W.Va.; junior Samaria Murry, of Akron, Ohio; senior Allison Paxton, of Canonsburg, Pa.; senior McKayla Martin, of Dillonvale, Ohio; junior Kaitlynne Seminsky, of Bethany, W.Va.; junior Joshua Allegra, of Scottdale, Pa., junior Dillon Davenport, of Fairfax, Va.; senior David Heldt, of Sanford, N.C.; Dr. Debra Hull, visiting professor of psychology; Dr. John Hull, professor of psychology; and Dr. Michael Overton, visiting assistant professor of psychology.

Overton presents “Embodied Narrative Knowing as a Framework for DEI Initiatives in Undergraduate Research” on Saturday during the “Teaching of Psychology Papers” session.

The group will also present the following posters:

  • “Impact of Race and Gender on Children’s Behavior Disorder Diagnoses” by Debra Hull, Meintel, Murry and John Hull.
  • “What Helps College Student Deal with the COVID-19 Pandemic?” by John and Debra Hull, Allegra, Davenport and Heldt.
  • “Psychological Disorder Stigma Related to Participant Gender, Race and Religious Affiliation” by Martin, Bethany alumnus Mershawn Smith ’20, and Debra and John Hull.
  • “Sports Uniform Color and Gender and Perceptions of Aggression” by Paxton, and Debra and John Hull.
  • “Embodied Narrative Knowing: Advanced Martial Arts” by Seminsky.

The annual meeting of the Eastern Psychological Association returns to an in-person format, March 3-5, for the first time since 2019.
