Bethany College Donates Protective Equipment to Nursing Facility

BETHANY, W.Va. — Bethany College has donated personal protective equipment to assist local health professionals.

The college shipped protective glasses and about a dozen boxes of gloves earlier this week, said Jay Eisenhauer, executive director of the Bethany Physical Plant.

Health professionals across the country are reporting critical shortages of personal protective equipment in the wake of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The donation is in response to a request from Tara Pletcher ’07, chief executive office at Mound View, a 129-bed skilled nursing center in Moundsville.

“At our center, we are working to protect our state’s most vulnerable population,” Pletcher said. “We have taken measures to restrict visitor access and are working diligently to keep the virus out of our center. Donations like these ensure that we are prepared to protect our employees with enough personal protective equipment to stop the spread of the virus if we experience a positive COVID-19 case.”

On Monday, Bethany College announced that it would continue with remote instruction through the end of the semester in response to social distance recommendations from state and national health officials.
