BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College is strengthening its longstanding ties to the Disciples of Christ with a new scholarship to be awarded beginning in Fall 2020.

The Disciples Regional Minister Nomination Award allows DOC regional ministers to nominate a student from their respective areas for a Bethany College scholarship of $3,000 per year for up to four years.

“This new award further solidifies Bethany College’s commitment to the Disciples of Christ Church and to the DOC students searching for their college home,” said Karen Hunt, Bethany’s vice president for enrollment and marketing.

Alexander Campbell, one of the principal founders of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), founded Bethany College in 1840 and was its first president.

The nearby Campbell Mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and registered as a National Historic Landmark in 1994. The Disciples of Christ Historical Society opened on the grounds of Campbell Mansion in 2016.

To be eligible for the Disciples Regional Minister Nomination Award, a student must apply and be admitted to Bethany.

The deadline for nominating students is Feb. 1. The new scholarship can be combined with other Bethany awards with the exception of the Presidential Scholarship, which covers full tuition.

For more information about how to nominate a student, contact Dan Adams, assistant director of enrollment for DOC recruitment, at [obfuscate_btn]dadams@bethanywv.edu[/obfuscate_btn] or 304.829.7605.
