BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College, Parkhurst Dining, and Brooke County Committee on Aging have entered into a partnership that will benefit area senior citizens.
Through the partnership, Parkhurst Dining, the provider of dining services at Bethany College, is now providing the daily meals to the Brooke-Hancock Nutrition Program operated by Brooke County Committee on Aging.

Parkhurst Dining focuses on serving high-quality, made-from- scratch meals that include fresh and natural ingredients from family-owned farms and producers of food in local communities.
“This partnership allows Bethany College and Parkhurst Dining to address a vital need in the community and to forge a meaningful connection with the Brooke County Committee on Aging and the residents it serves,” Bethany President Tamara Nichols Rodenberg said.

The Brooke-Hancock Nutrition Program serves four congregate lunch sites Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to noon in Brooke and Hancock counties. Home-delivered lunches are available to anyone age 60-plus who is unable to attend a congregate lunch site.
The congregrate lunch site locations include:
- Brooke County Senior Center (948 Main St., Follansbee, W.Va.)
- Freedom Place Apartments (3744 Main St., Weirton, W.Va.)
- Greater Weirton Senior Center (3425 Main St., Weirton, W.Va)
- Hancock House (720 3rd St., New Cumberland, W.Va.)

Angela Kocher, Brooke County Committee on Aging executive director, says, “This partnership came at a time when Brooke County Committee on Aging, was in much need of assistance. The service provided by Bethany College and Parkhurst Dining is greatly appreciated by Brooke and Hancock County seniors. Bethany has stepped up to provide more 4,000 meals a month to assist approximately 250 seniors who live independently in their home, while also accommodating four congregate sites with hot healthy meals and much needed socialization. We are really excited to continue this partnership with Bethany College and Parkhurst Dining.”
The partnership has provided more than 8,383 meals to local seniors to date.
