BETHANY, W.Va. — The Rev. Thaddaeus B. Allen ‘92, regional minister and president of the W.Va., Pa., and Northeastern regions of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will be the keynote speaker for Bethany College’s Baccalaureate ceremony on Friday, May 5. 

“It is a distinct and humbling honor to be associated with the graduating Class of 2023,” says Rev. Allen. “Having watched them closely from matriculation to commencement has been all joy. I am convinced that this is as fine a class as Bethany has ever seen! To send them into the world with a blessing is a very Bethany thing to do.”

Rev. Allen has been with the Disciples of Christ for 16 years and in his current role since November 2022. In 2014, he was also called to the regional minister and president post for the Pennsylvania Region of the Disciples. Rev. Allen was previously pastor of the Madison Avenue Christian Church in Huntington, W.Va., Big Run Christian Church near Cameron, W.Va., and Bethany Christian Church of New England, W.Va. He has served as the associate to the regional minister for youth ministry in this region, is a board member of Thomas Campbell Apartments, a large affordable housing campus in Washington, Pa., is the vice-chair of the Board of Trustees of Bethany College, and chair of the Board of Trustees for the Disciples of Christ Historical Society, Christian Associates of Southwest Pa., and the W.Va. Council of Churches. 

A 1992 graduate of Bethany College, Rev. Allen holds the M.Div. degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, holds a postgraduate certificate in congregational renewal and leadership from Lexington Theological Seminary where he was awarded the 2020 Riley Montgomery Award, and is a candidate for the D.Min. degree at Lexington Theological Seminary. 

Rev. Allen and his wife, Jennifer, are the parents of two daughters, Kaylie who is a student at the Indiana University McKinney School of Law and Haddae who is a student of the Spring 2023 graduating class at Bethany College.
