First-time Voters Participate in Walk to Mail Absentee Ballots

BETHANY, W.Va. – Over 60 students and community members gathered at Bethany College on Oct. 25 for Walk the Vote, a celebration highlighting the importance of voting.

The event launched with a student-led ceremony.

“We live in a place we have an active way to be heard,” senior cyber security major Othniel Kpodar said.

“Go out there and voice your opinion, and the best way to do that is at the polls!”

With encouragement from fellow classmates and friends, first-time voters then proceeded to the post office to mail their absentee ballots.

Everyone who showed up to support the cause was entered into a raffle to win a one-way ticket home.

Walk the Vote was sponsored by Bethany Memorial Church, Black Student Union, Religion and Philosophy Club, Bison Alliance, Psychology Club, and Social Awareness Club.
