BETHANY, W.Va. – The annual Light Up Night and Charity Christmas Auction will return to Bethany College at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2.

The free community event will be on Pennington Quadrangle near Old Main. In the event of inclement weather, Light Up Night will be moved to Commencement Hall. Refreshments will be provided.

The evening will begin with an official tree lighting, and a live tree and wreath auction will follow. The college invites students, organizations, academic departments, and community members and groups to donate a themed wreath or Christmas tree for auction.

Proceeds will benefit Bernie’s Kids. The Brooke County charity memorializes Bernie Kazienko, a former Brooke County sheriff and commissioner who died in 2011 of cancer, by providing Christmas presents for  children in need.

Bethany raised more than $3,000 for Bernie’s Kids at its 2019 event.

For more information, or if you would like to donate a tree or wreath, please contact Vice President and Dean of Students Jerry Stebbins at gstebbins@bethanywv.edu no later than Monday, Nov. 29.
