BETHANY, W.Va. – Longtime Bethany College Professor of Psychology Dr. John Hull will deliver his Last Lecture, titled “By the Numbers,” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, in Wailes Theatre in Steinman Hall.
The lecture also will be broadcast live.
Hull joined the Bethany College faculty in 1976, and over the years co-authored papers and presentations with more than 110 Bethany students and more than 130 total students. In all, students have appeared as co-authors on Hull’s presentations and publications 177 times.
Hull has led students to the Eastern Psychology Association annual meetings for more than 40 years. In 2022 alone, he co-authored research with Dr. Debra Hull, visiting professor of psychology, and with students McKayla Martin, of Dillonvale, Ohio; Samaria Murry, of Akron, Ohio; Allison Paxton, of Canonsburg, Pa.; Kelsie Meintel, of Moundsville, W.Va.; Kaitlynne Seminsky, of Bethany, W.Va.; Dillon Davenport, of Fairfax, Va.; David Heldt, of Sanford, N.C.; and Joshua Allegra, of Scottdale, Pa.
Hull has taught more than two dozen unique courses at Bethany and served as an instructor for master’s and doctoral social work programs at Smith College.
Bethany recognized Hull with numerous internal awards, including the President’s Award of Excellence (Faculty) (2021) and Bethany College Student Life Award for “Exceptional Service to Students – Faculty” (2020). He also was twice a nominee for the Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia Outstanding Professor of the Year.
A reception for faculty, staff and alumni who want to further celebrate Hull will follow the lecture at Christman Manor at Pendleton Heights.
