BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College Department of Communications and Media Arts announced a media symposium titled, “What is the Future of Digital Media” to be held on Thursday, March 2, at 7 p.m. in Weimer Lecture Hall. This symposium will be held in conjunction with Founder’s Day at Bethany College.

The series of events will feature in-person and Skype visits from prominent Bethany College alumni and professionals working in a wide variety of positions in digital media.

The symposium is designed to help participants better understand the diverse and quickly evolving world of digital media in 2017. Former KDKA-TV anchor and reporter, Jon Greiner, Visiting Digital Media Scholar, will moderate.

“This is an exceptionally exciting time to be teaching, researching, and practicing digital media,” said M.E. Yancosek Gamble, Chair of the Department of Communications and Media Arts at Bethany. “Notwithstanding the evolving technology and capability of digital media, there are many related issues that we hope to explore such as fake news, impacts of the 2016 election and the changing role of the press and the Presidency.”

Because of a gift from the Driehorst Family Foundation, the event will be web-streamed at this link.
