Coach Bill Garvey has made the decision to resign from his position as head coach of the Bison football team. I wish to thank Coach Garvey for his many years of service to Bethany College, and extend our collective best wishes for success in his future endeavors.
Effective immediately, I am appointing Coach Andy Upton as the interim head coach of Bison football. He will serve in this capacity until a permanent head coach is appointed. Formerly the associate head football coach, Coach Upton also serves as assistant professor and head coach for track and field. Interim Athletic Director Jill Willson will commence a search immediately to identify the Bison’s next head football coach, and we anticipate substantial interest.
Our priority in identifying the next head coach is selecting a leader who is committed to creating a culture of excellence and success in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.
