Earn a joint degree from Bethany College and West Liberty University through a unique teacher education pathway designed to prepare you for the classroom. Through Bethany’s partnership with West Liberty University, you’ll study interdisciplinary education while living and learning on Bethany’s campus. Graduates earn a joint degree from both institutions and the credentials from West Liberty University to pursue teacher licensure and sit for the PRAXIS 2 exam.
Beyond the classroom, you’ll experience the full Bethany College community while remaining eligible to compete in NCAA Division III athletics for all four years of the program.
What You’ll Experience
Through Bethany’s partnership with West Liberty University, students complete a unique teacher education pathway while fully participating in the Bethany experience. This program combines professional preparation for elementary education with the opportunity to live, learn, and compete as a Bethany student.
Students will:
- Complete coursework through Bethany College and West Liberty University
- Earn a joint degree from both institutions and the credentials from West Liberty University to pursue teacher licensure
- Prepare for the PRAXIS 2 exam and a career in elementary education
- Live and learn on Bethany’s campus throughout the four-year program
- Compete in NCAA Division III athletics for all four years, if eligible
- Participate in Bethany traditions, campus organizations, and co-curricular opportunities
- Build relationships with faculty, classmates, and the broader Bethany community

Graduates are prepared to pursue careers in elementary education and related fields, using their teaching preparation, communication skills, and liberal arts foundation to support student learning and development.
