International Students

We are so excited that you are considering attending Bethany College! Bethany is the oldest private college in the picturesque mountain state of West Virginia. We offer small classes and personal connections. You will be welcomed like family to this traditional campus with abundant opportunities to immerse yourself in the community. After a short time, it will be a rare occurrence for you to see someone on campus that you don’t recognize. So, let’s get started!

International Admission Procedures

Bethany College will process all admission applications as soon as all required materials are received. To allow sufficient time for processing, students should submit all materials to Bethany College as early as possible, preferably by June 1 for the Fall semester (beginning in August) and November 1 for the Spring semester (beginning in January). Time needed to apply and receive an approval for an F-1 student visa varies according to location. You can find visa wait times here.

International students must apply online, if possible. After you are finished, click the ‘SUBMIT’ button located in the left column of the application and follow the directions. Please note that your application will not be reviewed until all materials are received.

Please refer to the international admission checklist below for a complete list of required documents.

  • If you intend to request transfer credit for previous post-secondary work, submit official copies of NACES member evaluations of academic records from any post-secondary educational institution you have attended outside the United States. If you do not intend to request transfer credit, you may submit an official transcript directly from the non-U.S. institution. Submit official copies of any U.S. transcripts directly from the institution.
  • English language proficiency must be demonstrated for any student whose native language is not English and did not attend a secondary school in which English was the language of instruction. This may be satisfied by documentation of a preferred score of 70 or above on the TOEFL Internet-based test, 6 or above on the IELTS, or 95 or above on DuoLingo. Bethany College will also accept documentation of successful completion of ELS 112 as proof of English proficiency.
