BETHANY, W.Va. (June 19, 2025) – Bethany College and West Liberty University are pleased to announce that the Dual Enrollment Program in teacher education has been officially approved and is now accepting applications for Fall 2025.
This collaborative program provides a seamless academic pathway for qualified Bethany College students interested in pursuing a career in elementary education. Upon successful completion of all course requirements for Bethany’s interdisciplinary studies program, students will seamlessly enter West Liberty University’s teacher education program
Graduates of the program will earn an interdisciplinary studies degree from Bethany College and an elementary education degree from West Liberty University. All applicable coursework will be fully recognized by both institutions, ensuring a smooth and efficient path to graduation.
Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the PRAXIS 2 examination, the next step in earning teacher licensure and beginning a career in the classroom.

An added benefit of the program is that students will remain eligible to participate in NCAA Division III athletics at Bethany College while completing education coursework through West Liberty University.
The partnership between Bethany and West Liberty is designed to meet student needs while strengthening the regional teacher pipeline.
