Bethany, W.Va. (Dec. 10, 2024) – Bethany College and West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC) are proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a Nursing Education Partnership. This forward-thinking partnership provides a seamless educational pathway for students, fostering academic excellence and professional readiness in the nursing field. Building upon WVWC’s long-standing and highly regarded nursing program, this partnership offers a robust academic foundation that benefits both institutions and ensures students are well-prepared for impactful careers in healthcare.

Signed on Dec. 10, 2024, the agreement allows academically qualified students to earn dual degrees: a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Bethany College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from WVWC. This collaboration leverages the strengths of both institutions to prepare students with the skills and experiences necessary for meaningful contributions to the healthcare field.

A key feature of this program is that students will reside on Bethany College’s campus for the full four years of their undergraduate experience. During this time, they will fully engage in Bethany’s vibrant campus life, including participation in NCAA Division III athletics, co-curricular activities, and other student engagement opportunities, while completing coursework for both degrees.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will earn a BSN from WVWC and will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX examination. This credential positions students for successful entry into the healthcare workforce at a time when skilled nursing professionals are in high demand.

Bethany College President Dr. Jamie Caridi emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with West Virginia Wesleyan College represents a transformative opportunity for our students. By combining Bethany’s interdisciplinary approach with WVWC’s esteemed nursing program, we are providing students with an unparalleled educational experience that will prepare them for meaningful careers in healthcare.”

WVWC President Dr. James Moore echoed this sentiment, saying, “We are excited to work alongside Bethany College to create pathways for students to achieve their professional goals. This partnership exemplifies how higher education institutions can come together to address critical workforce needs while enhancing student success.”

The Nursing Education Partnership also underscores the institutions’ commitment to equitable resource sharing, with program revenues and associated start-up costs divided equally between Bethany College and WVWC.

Bethany College and WVWC are thrilled to embark on this partnership and look forward to the possibilities it will create for students, alumni, and communities. By working together, the Colleges aim to foster innovation, educational excellence, and a brighter future for the healthcare industry.
