BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College is pleased to welcome Dr. Duane Kilty as interim chief financial officer. Kilty will work alongside current Bethany CFO Denny McMaster until his departure at the end of September.

Kilty’s lengthy experience in higher education makes him a great fit for the position. He has served as CFO for over 25 years and has experience in fiscal management, campus leadership, strategic planning, personnel management, teaching, and administrative operations. Kilty comes to Bethany from Indiana Wesleyan University.

“Duane has an impressive and long track record of serving small, private, faith-based institutions like Bethany College,” says Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “I have full faith that his knowledge and abilities will help Bethany continue to flourish during our search for a permanent CFO. We are very lucky he is able to journey with us for as long as this search takes.”

During his time at Indiana Wesleyan University, Kilty also served as a scholar in residence at the DeVoe School of Business and special assistant to the president for strategic initiatives. Through this, he was responsible for implementing major strategic projects, supervising the vice chancellor for Asia-Pacific education, and teaching business strategy, organizational behavior, organizational development, business statistics, and management. Kilty says he is motivated and loves to use his abilities to plan and execute large, complex projects.

“I am excited to begin my tenure as the CFO of Bethany College. My 25 years of experience as a CFO, consultant, and campus leader prepare me well for this role,” says Kilty. “My desire is to be part of a team that charts the way for a healthy and vibrant future of helping students find their unique, and extraordinary potential, and I believe Bethany College is on that track.”

Kilty’s experience also includes teaching over 100 courses and consulting for over a dozen universities. He has frequently been published on small college finance, including recently in Trusteeship Magazine. Kilty has an accounting degree, an M.B.A, an M.A. in accounting, and a Ph.D. in business strategy. He is also credentialed as both a CPA and CFP.
