BETHANY, W.Va. (Aug. 21, 2025) — Bethany College will launch new Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in exercise science beginning in Oct. 2025. The new program is designed to meet the growing demand for healthcare and allied health professionals, offering two distinct academic tracks that prepare students for graduate study or immediate careers in health, fitness, and wellness.

The exercise science program reflects Bethany’s mission to provide career-focused, interdisciplinary education that responds directly to national workforce needs.

“This new program reflects Bethany’s commitment to preparing students for meaningful careers that serve their communities,” said Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “With demand for allied health professionals growing rapidly, our exercise science graduates will be well positioned to pursue graduate study or begin impactful work in the expanding fields of health, fitness, and rehabilitation.”

Students may pursue the allied health track, designed for those seeking advanced study in fields such as physical therapy, athletic training, and occupational therapy, or the applied health track, focused on workforce readiness in fitness coaching, strength and conditioning, and wellness programming. Both tracks emphasize hands-on learning, internships, research opportunities, and laboratory experiences.

“This curriculum was designed through collaboration with faculty, healthcare professionals and industry leaders to ensure that Bethany graduates are fully prepared for academic and professional success,” said Danny Moore, vice president for academic affairs. “We are particularly excited about the integration of experiential learning, student-athlete pathways, and personalized faculty mentorship that distinguishes this program.”

Bethany’s second start date on Oct. 6, 2025, provides added flexibility for incoming students who want to begin their exercise science studies without waiting until the following year.

Enrollment for the exercise science program is now open for Oct. 2025. For more information, please contact the Enrollment Office at enrollment@bethanywv.edu or 304.829.7611. Apply today!
