BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College welcomes Jill (Fernandes) Bittel back to our foothills. As of Jan. of 2023, Bittel has returned as director of financial aid.

“Jill’s role is critical to Bethany College and its students. She has extensive experience in higher education in addition to her prior time at Bethany College,” says Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “We are excited to see her success continue in her new role as director of financial aid, and above all else to have her rejoin the Bethany College family.”

With over 20 years of experience in higher education, Bittel has a deep understanding of the college financial aid landscape. In addition to three years of prior work at Bethany, she has collected extensive knowledge from her time at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, California University of Pennsylvania, and Pittsburgh Technical College.

“We are pleased to welcome Jill back to our Bethany family. She did an exceptional job for us in the past, and we look forward to seeing how she will positively impact our Financial Aid Department into the future,” says Vice President for Enrollment Management Dana Bearer.

Bittel holds a master’s of education in math and computer science and a bachelor’s of art in communication studies from California University of Pennsylvania.

“I am beyond ecstatic to be back with my Bethany College family. It’s a wonderful family reunion where my ties to Bethany are strong and the administration is loyal,” says Bittel. “I look forward to bringing my years of experience to positively impact enrollment and customer service. I enjoy helping our students achieve their dreams and reach their potential.”

Bittel lives in Jefferson Hills, Pa., with her daughter, Kendal.
