Buck Named Head Softball Coach

BETHANY, W.Va. (July 25, 2025) – Bethany College Director of Athletics Jen Windmiller has announced the promotion of Lexi Buck to head softball coach, effective immediately.

Buck is no stranger to the Bison dugout, having served as assistant coach for the past two seasons during one of the most successful stretches in program history.

In 2025, Buck helped guide the team to a 15-0 start—the best in Bethany softball history—and served as the first base coach for a squad that shattered the program’s single-season stolen base record with 129 steals.

“Lexi Buck has demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, and a deep commitment to our student-athletes throughout her time with the program,” Windmiller said. “She will only strengthen the team culture she helped build over the last two years and is well-positioned to sustain our momentum. Lexi’s energy, softball knowledge, and ability to connect with her players make her the right person to lead our program forward. I’m excited to see her take this next step and continue to elevate Bethany softball.”

A two-time All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference selection at Grove City College, Buck was a five-year starter at shortstop before joining the Bison as a graduate assistant. She transitioned seamlessly from crimson red to Bethany green and has become an integral part of the program’s continued growth.

“I am truly grateful to step into the role of head coach and continue the momentum we’ve built over the past few seasons,” Buck said. “Being part of the Bison softball program has been such a rewarding experience, and I am proud of the players and the culture we’ve created together. I’m excited for the opportunity to lead this amazing group and look forward to seeing what we can accomplish this year—both on and off the field.”

During Buck’s tenure on staff, the Bison compiled back-to-back 25-plus win seasons and earned consecutive postseason berths. The 2026 squad returns a strong core, including All-PAC honorees Emma Jackson and Brooke Markland.
