BETHANY, W.Va. – Maleena Hatfield, of Lawrence, Kan., will graduate with a degree in social work and a minor in Spanish.
She will begin working as a case manager at an agency in Topeka, Kan., near her hometown.
Her senior project involved conducting research at Belmont Correctional Institution, a medium-security prison in St. Clairsville, Ohio. The Bethany social work program offers students the opportunity to commit 500 hours to a field placement throughout the fall semester of senior year.
Hatfield is part of the Social Awareness Club, Spanish honors society and Society for Distinguished Leaders on Campus. She also is a fellow in the Bethany social work department.
“Some of my favorite memories from Bethany include the beautiful hiking trails available by campus,” Hatfield said. “The outdoor classroom has hosted some of my favorite campfires with friends, and the waterfall is right next to a perfect hammock location.”
