This workshop will focus on self care practices to access our greatest resource of being and becoming authentically whole persons all while serving and effectively care for others in the church/community.
Reverend Dr. William L. Johnson, III
The Rev. Dr. William Lamour Johnson, III, a St. Louis native, is the son of Presiding Elder Carrol Ann Kimbrough Johnson (Presiding Elder of the St. Louis District – Missouri Annual Conference) and the late Mr. William Lamour Johnson. He is a graduate of Oakville High School and Missouri Baptist College where he received his Bachelor’s Of Science degree in Business Administration.
In October, 1992 Reverend Johnson acknowledges making a life transforming commitment to God. In February of 1993, Rev. Johnson accepted his call into the ministry. Upon receiving his calling, Rev. Johnson felt compelled to stir up the gift that God had placed in him.
He followed God’s direction, left his job, home, and friends and moved to Salisbury, North Carolina to attend Hood Theological Seminary. On May 11, 1996, Rev. Johnson graduated from Hood Theological Seminary with his Masters of Divinity Degree.
He then matriculated to Duke University Divinity School where he received his Masters of Theological Studies on May 16, 1999. He earn his Doctorate of Ministry Degree at Colgate Rochester Divinity School in May 2012.
Dr. Johnson has been a member of several social, civic, and religious organizations, past and present. He is a member of the World Methodist Council’s Order of the Flame, served as an alternate on the National Council of Churches Special Commission on Relief and Recovery for the Gulf Coast and has also served as an alternate delegate and delegate to the General Conference of the AME Zion Church. He serves on several Annual Conference and Connectional Boards.
He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and a Fund for Theological Education – Project Rising Sun Leadership Academy Fellow. A LEDD (Leadership Education at Duke Divinity Fellow)
Rev. Johnson has served as the shepherd of several congregations in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. He served in the West Central North Carolina Conference where he pastored Mt. Olive AME Zion Church in Carthage, North Carolina, Corinth AME Zion Church in Siler City, North Carolina, the Historic Kyles Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, Durham, North Carolina (CNCC) and York Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Greenville, North Carolina (NCC). St. Luke AME Zion Church, Wilmington, North Carolina (Cape Fear Conference), St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church (Cincinnati, OH), Presiding Elder (Columbus-Cincinnati District-OAC).
Dr. Johnson Proudly serves as the Presiding Elder of the SENSATIONAL, SPIRIT-FILLED, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS DISTRICT, Indiana Annual Conference, African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
Dr. Johnson now Serves as The Chaplain for Palliative Care at Christian Hospital NE in Saint Louis, MO where he serves on a variety of committees in leadership. ( bioethics, cultural awareness and inclusivity/diversity, Christian Hospital Foundation Clergy Board, Chair of the MLK celebration, etc) He is also a candidate for Board Certification for Chaplaincy through the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC).

He is the very proud father of two wonderful children, William IV and Ebonee.
