Oreon E. Scott Lectures

April 8 - April 9

Since its founding in 1840 by Alexander Campbell, Bethany has been affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The Scott Lectures began in 1956 as a way to strengthen church leaders. This year’s event will be led by Rev. Dr. Lance Pape, Granville and Erline Walker Associate Professor of Homiletics and Director of Disciples Formation, Brite Divinity School, TCU. Pape has a new book out, “The Scandal of Having Something to Say,” that will be of interest to our core audience of local pastors.

It is Bethany’s distinct honor to host the Oreon E. Scott Lectures at First Christian Church, 615 Beau St., Washington, Pa., on April 8 and 9. The College is proud to provide the ordained and lay leaders of the Church with an opportunity to learn from distinguished speakers and to experience spiritual renewal.

On Monday, April 8, the session will begin at 10 a.m. On Tuesday, April 9, the session will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m.

Breakfast and lunch will be served at the church. We will go to dinner at the Union Grill at 6 p.m. on Monday.

The Scott Lectures registration fee to attend in person is $65 for participants. Can’t make it? You can still register to attend the event via Zoom for $30.
