Chelsey Fletcher
Physical Education & Sports Studies Chair
Dr. Chelsey M. Fletcher is an assistant professor with the Physical Education and Sport Studies Department. She earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Instructional Management and Leadership from Robert Morris University. Dr. Fletcher earned dual Masters Degrees from West Virginia University in Secondary Education and Reading and earned dual Bachelor Degrees from Muskingum University in Business and Psychology.
Prior to joining the Bison Family, Dr. Fletcher taught in the K-12 environment for 16 years in the Ohio Valley and also for an online school. She also was an adjunct instructor at EGCC. She was Toronto City Schools first female Athletic Director while also teaching in the Social Studies and English Language Arts departments. Dr. Fletcher served as the Ethnic and Minority Representative for the OHSAA East District Athletic Board. She continues her work with the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference as the volleyball commissioner. Athletics have been a passion of Dr. Fletcher entire life; she played softball for Muskingum College and coached volleyball, basketball, and softball for 12 years prior to working in Athletic Administration. She is now blessed to focus her professional teaching career by aiding Bethany students to become effective future athletic administrators and coaches.
Athletics have been a passion for Dr. Fletcher since she was a child. Because she was exposed to so few women who worked in athletics, it did not occur to her that a profession in athletics was an option. The mid-life epiphany is what drove Dr. Fletcher to seek her Ph.D. and thus professional sport studies employment in higher education. It is Dr. Fletcher continued passion to enlighten all future professionals regardless, of gender, age, or ethnicity, about the diverse opportunities sport studies offers.

Favorite Quote, Book, or Movie . . . Why?
“The greatest strength any human being can have is to recognize his or her own weaknesses. When you identify your weaknesses, you can begin to remedy them – or at least figure out how to work around them.” — Pat Summitt
I have admired Coach Summitt my entire life for her hard-nosed competitive work ethic. We can not progress until we truly self-evaluate.
