BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College is launching a Giving Tuesday campaign to raise $135,000 for a late-night food and gathering space for students.

Money donated to Bethany on Tuesday, Nov. 30, will help remodel the former Boomer’s location on the ground floor of the Ogden Dining Hall. The site was previously known as The Beehive and The Barn.

The Boomer’s project will include new lighting, flooring, paint, furniture, televisions, and updated kitchen and bathrooms. Plans also call for installing items such as game tables, electronic games and a small movie theater.

“This project will benefit the entire student body at Bethany,” said Rhone Thrash, executive director of annual giving and special projects. “A reimagined Boomer’s will encourage a sense of community among students, add an after-hours dining option, and provide a new space for activities and events.”

The new space will retain the Boomer’s name.

The college invites donors to share their generosity on social media using #BCGivingTuesday for a chance to receive a Bethany gift.

The college will announce matching donations throughout the day.

Last year, donors supported Bethany College athletic programs with more than $68,000 in gifts during the Giving Tuesday campaign.

Make your gift here, or text code BCGT21 to 71777. The mailing address is Center for Institutional Advancement, Bethany College, 31 East Campus Drive, Bethany, WV 26032.

Giving Tuesday is an annual effort to promote generosity toward nonprofit organizations on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
