BETHANY, W.Va. (Oct. 8, 2024) – Bethany College has appointed Jen Windmiller as interim athletic director, effective immediately. Windmiller, previously serving as the senior associate director of athletics and senior woman administrator (SWA), brings extensive leadership experience in collegiate athletics, student success programs, and NCAA compliance.

Jen Windmiller headshotThroughout her time at Bethany, Windmiller has led key diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and spearheaded various NCAA programs. She has overseen teams such as women’s volleyball (2023 PAC Champions), cross country, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and women’s wrestling, while also organizing NCAA DIII DEI Week social awareness efforts and student-athlete engagement activities.

“Jen brings a wealth of experience and leadership to this interim role,” said Brian Sansom, vice president for athletics and enrollment. “Her commitment to our student-athletes’ success, both academically and athletically, makes her the ideal person to guide the department through this transition.”

Windmiller’s initiatives have been key to driving academic success among Bethany’s student-athletes. The academic policies she introduced, such as enhanced attendance requirements and structured study hours, resulted in a notable increase in the athletic department’s GPA. Her emphasis on mental health support through targeted programming also bolstered student-athlete performance and well-being across various teams.

In addition to her administrative duties, Windmiller has actively served on Bethany’s Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) and contributed to the NCAA DIII Financial Aid Committee. Her dedication to student-athlete development has been reflected in her participation in various NCAA forums and leadership programs.

As interim athletic director, Windmiller will continue to guide Bethany College’s athletic programs, fostering a culture of inclusivity, academic achievement, and athletic excellence.
