[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]BETHANY, W.Va – Bethany College Director of Athletics Steve Thompson has announced that he will be stepping down from his position at Bethany to accept the Director of Athletics position at Baldwin Wallace University Wednesday morning.

Thompson succeeds Interim Director of Athletics John Snell ‘87, who will return to his Assistant Director of Athletics role, after running the department for the 2020-21 academic year following the retirement of Kris Diaz ‘78 last June.

“We enjoyed working with Steve Thompson and wish him well in this next chapter of his professional life” stated Bethany President Tamara Nichols Rodenberg.

Thompson heads to Berea, Ohio, after serving the past three years as the Director of Athletics for the Bison. While at Bethany, he led and oversaw the daily operations of the Bison’s 21 intercollegiate athletic sports teams as well as created a new alumni engagement strategy, signed an agreement with BSN Sports and Nike to be the exclusive apparel provider and renewed a partnership with Riddell Corporation.

A national search for Thompson’s replacement will begin immediately.
