BETHANY COMMUNICATION STUDENT NAMED FINALIST IN NATIONAL COMPETITION

BETHANY, W.Va. – Rebecca Bateson, a Communication major, has been named a finalist in the 2006 National Broadcasting Society's (NBS) Student Production Competition. Bateson, from Wheeling, W.Va., is a finalist in the audio news segment category for a newscast that aired on the College's radio station.

Bateson said, "I was very glad to hear I was nominated for the award in the NBS competition seeing as it is my first year in the organization."

Bateson is the operations manager at Bethany's radio station (WVBC) and was recently elected as Vice President for Bethany's NBS Chapter.

This is the seventh consecutive year that a Bethany College Communication student or faculty member has been nominated for a national production award.

Student production award winners will be announced March 18 at the NBS National Convention in Washington, D.C.

Bethany College will be represented by Chelsea Boyd, a Communication senior from Wheeling, W.Va. Boyd is the National President for Student Services of NBS National.
