Our Programs

WEST VIRGINIA SCHOOL OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE

In Oct. of 2022, Bethany College and West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine partnered to offer Bethanians the opportunity to earn early guaranteed admittance to WVSOM, upon successful completion of program requirements.

Bethany College students are eligible for consideration during sophomore year. Students must have a science GPA of 3.4 or higher, as well as completion of eight hours of biology with labs, and eight hours of general chemistry with labs. Applications should be completed during the spring of junior year, and are due by June 30 each year. After applications have been submitted, the interview process will occur through the end of July.

Students accepted into the program will be assigned a WVSOM faculty mentor to monitor their progress and answer questions. They will also provide students with job shadowing opportunities and chances to expand their network with medical professionals.

WVSOM has ranked as one of the nation’s top medical schools for over two decades. WVSOM is also number one in the nation among all medical school graduating physicians who practice in rural areas according to Academic Medicine.

NORTHEAST OHIO MEDICAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF PHARMACY

Bethany College announced a collaboration with Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) College of Pharmacy in Oct. of 2022 to provide those attending Bethany a pipeline into the NEOMED College of Pharmacy through an early assurance program.

According to this agreement, candidates for admission to Bethany College, and chemistry and biochemistry students already attending Bethany College, can apply for early assurance to the NEOMED College of Pharmacy Pharm.D. program after completing 60 prerequisite credits from Bethany.

Prerequisite credits must contain two semesters of organic chemistry with labs, two semesters of physics with labs, two semesters of biology with labs, and a semester of biochemistry.

The two institutions will collaborate to offer pre-admission and pharmacy career counseling opportunities for prospective and current students at Bethany College.

WEST VIRGINIA REED COLLEGE OF MEDIA

In Oct. of 2022, Bethany College and West Virginia University Reed College of Media signed a dual agreement between the two Mountain State institutions. The agreement provides Bethany business and communication students with three different accelerated graduate-level program opportunities—integrated marketing communications (IMC), data marketing, and digital marketing.

To be considered for admission into the graduate program, Bethany College students must have a 3.4 cumulative GPA by the Fall of junior year, and a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of application completion.

The 4 + 1 program allows Bethany students to attend WVU for an intro course during their senior year. WVU graduate programs typically take 16 months to complete, but with this agreement, students are able to complete the graduate program in one year— saving them both time and money.

SAINT GEORGE'S UNIVERSITY IN GRENADA, WEST INDIES

Bethanians can now embark on a seamless journey from Bethany College to Saint George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. Students can pursue advanced degrees such as Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

In the 4+4 program students can complete four years of pre-medical or pre-veterinary coursework at the College to be fast-tracked for admission into four-year programs at the St. George’s School of Medicine or School of Veterinary Medicine. Students pursuing the medical route will have the option to complete the first two years of their studies in Grenada or spend the first year at Northumbria University in the United Kingdom and the subsequent two years in Grenada, followed by two years of clinical rotations at SGU’s affiliated hospitals in the United States and/or the United Kingdom. Veterinary students will complete three years of study in Grenada and the final clinical year at SGU’s affiliated schools located in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, or the Netherlands.

In the 3+4 program, students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in biology or chemistry can apply to be admitted into SGU’s School of Medicine after three years at Bethany College. During their senior year in Grenada, students will complete the first Basic Sciences year of the MD Program before earning their bachelor’s degree. Students will then continue their medical studies in Grenada, followed by two years of clinical rotations at hospitals affiliated with SGU in the United States and/or the United Kingdom.

APPALACHIAN SCHOOL OF LAW

On June 30, 2022, Bethany College and Appalachian School of Law (ASL) signed an accelerated dual degree agreement to give Bethany students the opportunity to obtain a Juris Doctor in six years rather than the usual seven, saving students not only time—but money.

Applications for the Accelerated Law School Guarantee must be received by Jan. 1st of the year the student desires to enroll in the law school. Admission to ASL is guaranteed as long as the applicant meets the eligibility, character, and fitness requirements to practice law.

To be eligible, Bethany students must have completed all Bethany College core requirements, a minimum of two and a half years in residence, at least 90 credit hours at Bethany College, and passed their comprehensive examinations. They must also have permission of the undergraduate prelaw advisor to pursue accelerated study, maintain a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.0, and obtain an LSAT score equal to or exceeding 153.

For students who do not qualify for the DDA Program but wish to apply upon completion of their baccalaureate degree, ASL will make a review of their applications. Once eligibility requirements are met, ASL will schedule an interview with the student to assess abilities and maturity for professional study, and then make an expedited one-week decision.

WHEELING UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCE

Bethany College is now offering students a track into Wheeling’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The DPT program, through Wheeling’s College of Health Science, will accept at least two Bethany College students each year.

Upon application, students must have completed an undergraduate degree from Bethany and have maintained an overall cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

Students may pursue any undergraduate route that meets the requirements of Wheeling University DPT. After completing a verified application with the Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) and receiving the accepted Graduate Record Examination scores, students will continue through the interview process for potential program placement.

BETHANY COLLEGE - BROOKE COLLEGIATE ACADEMY

On Sept. 2, 2022, the College announced its partnership with Brooke County Schools to create the Bethany College – Brooke Collegiate Academy, which will allow students in the county to enroll in college classes and receive credit from Bethany College while still in high school. This will enable students to obtain free college courses, graduate college sooner and with less debt, and potentially complete a bachelor’s degree in three years instead of four. Brooke County Schools and the Board of Education will pay for all books, materials, course fees, and transportation to the College, while Bethany College will provide qualified students with relevant courses taught by Bethany faculty members. The program will integrate high school and college education to improve student learning, persistence, and satisfaction.

WEST LIBERTY UNIVERSITY

Bethany College and West Liberty University established two Dual Enrollment Programs in teacher education and nursing on June 27, 2023. This strategic partnership solidifies the commitment of West Liberty University and Bethany College to provide a seamless educational pathway for academically qualified Bethany College students. Upon successful completion of all course requirements for Bethany’s interdisciplinary studies program, students will seamlessly enter into either West Liberty University’s teacher education program or nursing program.

Qualified students will be awarded an interdisciplinary study degree from Bethany College and a degree in nursing or Elementary Education from West Liberty University. Both institutions will recognize and credit the coursework completed at the partner institution towards the granting of these degrees. In addition, upon completion of the Dual Enrollment Program, students pursuing nursing will be qualified to sit for the NCLEX examination, while students pursuing an elementary education degree will be qualified to sit for the PRAXIS 2 examination.

An essential element of this partnership is that it will not only provide students with a seamless academic journey but also allow them to participate in NCAA Division III athletics for Bethany College while enrolled at West Liberty University.
