BETHANY STUDENT NAMED FINALIST IN THE 2007 NBS PRODUCTION COMPETITION

BETHANY,W.Va – Justin Mackey, a junior communication major at Bethany College, has been named a national student electronic media competition finalist at the National Broadcasting Society’s annual convention to be held in Chicago. Mackey, son of Laurenda Mackey and David Titmus, of Pittsburgh, Pa., is nominated in the Video Drama category for the submission of a production titled “Half-Asleep.”

The national convention is being held in Chicago on Wednesday, March 28 through Sunday, April 1. An adviser and six Bethany students will attend the conference.

Mackey’s designation as a finalist in the NBS national production competition marks the seventh consecutive year that a Bethany College student has been named as a finalist.
“The consistent ranking of our Bethany College students as finalists in these national NBS production competitions speaks to our communication department’s reputation as a leader in communication studies in the tri-state area,” said Dr. Patrick Sutherland, Bethany Communication Department Chair.

Using Final Cut Pro software in the communication department’s BethComm digital video studios, Mackey produced his digital movie as a project in Dr. Larry Grimes’ Introduction to Film class.

Last year Bethany College student Rebecca Bateson of Wheeling was named a finalist in the NBS production competition’s radio news category.
