Bethany College and Tropical Illusions Support Locks of Love Foundation
BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College and Tropical Illusions will support Locks of Love with a donation event scheduled for March 28. College and surrounding community members are invited to visit Phillips Lounge on campus from 12-3 p.m. Representatives from Tropical Illusions salon will be available to give haircuts to benefit children experiencing hair loss because of a medical condition.
Haircuts of 10 inches or more will be free. Cuts less than 10 inches will involve a $10 charge that will also be donated to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21. Recipients of the donations are children who suffer from long-term hair loss because of any medical condition.
Locks of Love also provides hair pieces to children who have suffered severe burns, endured radiation treatment to the brain stem as a treatment for cancer, or have suffered from any number of skin disorders that cause permanent hair loss.
The goal of Locks of Love is to help children regain their self confidence and a sense of normalcy. The wigs are custom-made and allow the children to engage in everyday activities such as playing on the playground or participating in sports without worry.
