Nov. 18 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has announced that sophomore Alaina Geer (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) and junior Donavan Hayden (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) have been named the Bison SAAC Athletes of the Week.
Geer has been very consistent for the Bethany swimming & diving team so far this season. The sophomore helped the Bison defeat Franciscan University, 75-74, on Saturday. Geer was part of the relay team that earned 11 points, taking first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:55.49). Geer also swam well in her individual events, winning the 200-yard breaststroke (2:56.44) and placing second in the 200-yard backstroke with a final time of 2:26.55.
Hayden had a big week in a 35-27 victory over Saint Vincent College on Saturday. Hayden totaled a season-high 16 tackles, including adding 2.0 for loss against the Bearcats. The junior’s performance put him over the 100-tackle mark for the second-consecutive season, finishing with 109 tackles on the year. Hayden became just the second player in Bethany history to eclipse 100 tackles in back-to-back seasons.
