March 31 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has announced that juniors Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) and Kayla Kelly (Pasadena, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) have been named the Bison SAAC Athletes of the Week.
Minger helped the Bison with two first-place finishes at the Titan Winter Invitational on Sunday afternoon. In his first ever race in the 800-meter run, Minger finished first, notching a time of 1:59.47. He also helped the 4x100 meter relay team capture an ECAC qualifying time of 43.46, which also placed them first in the meet.
Kelly tore the cover off the ball in Bethany's two victories over Chatham University on Sunday. Kelly posted five hits in the two games, combined, four of which went for extra bases. Kelly hit one double, two triples and a home run in the doubleheader, posting five RBI and a slugging percentage of 2.167.
In the team's 19-3 victory in the first game, Kelly finished the contest 3-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. She followed that by going 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored in the team's 11-1 win in game two.
Other nominees for SAAC Athlete of the Week senior Zac Edmiston (California, Pa./California) and freshmen Jordan Horne (Marysville, Mich./Marysville) and Mason Schoonover (Elkins, W. Va./Elkins) for the men, and seniors Kiersten Conwell (Washington, Pa./Chartiers Houston) and Megan Butler (Harrisburg, Pa./Commonwealth Connections) for the women.
