Gerald Block
Football, Track & Field
Class of 1965

Gerald Block, who earned All-State and All-County honors at Boonton High School (N.J.), was a three-year athlete in football and a four-year athlete in track at Bethany. He earned All-Conference honors in both football and track, also serving as a co-captain of the track team.

A member of the 1962 Sigma Nu All-American Football Team (College Division), Block was the PAC's scoring champion in 1962. That same year, Block also set a PAC and school record for single-season touchdown receptions (7). Although this record has since been broken, it still ranks within the top ten for single-season touchdown receptions in the Bethany record books.

Block also excelled on the track, being crowned the Jersey State AAU 100-yard dash champion in 1963. At the time of his graduation from Bethany, he held PAC and school records in all four events he competed in. In 1965, the year he graduated from Bethany, he was a member of the U.S. Maccabiah track team that competed in Israel.

During his time at Bethany, Block was president of the Varsity "B" Club.

Block currently resides in East Hanover, N.J.
