Class of 1958
Yaksich, a 1958 graduate of Bethany, was a four-year basketball standout and also participated in cross country. He captained the basketball team, earned All-PAC honors, was All-WVIAC for two years and was named outstanding senior athlete.
During his time at Bethany, Yaksich was affiliated with Bethany's chapter of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. Yaksich went on to become the head basketball coach at Carneige Mellon University (1972-1975), and has coached at Toronto, Adena, and Brilliant High Schools.
Yaksich is a past president of the Eastern Ohio Athletic League, past vice president of the Basketball Coaches Association, and a member of the Ohio Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. He is the author of a book and numerous articles for national publications on the subject of basketball, and most recently served as the superintendent at Chippewa Local Schools in Ohio.
