August 31 - New Concord, Ohio – The Bethany College cross country teams competed in the Muskingum University Invitational on Saturday morning in New Concord, Ohio. The men finished third while the women also came in with a third place finish.
The meet was run relay style, with two members of the same program running one after the other and adding their times together. The men placed third out of three programs with a total of 22 points.
The tandem of Ryan Donnelly and Cory Yarrington posted the team’s best time of 1:02.11 which was good enough for fifth place in the meet. Wesley Scott and Tyler Castle came in with the meets 10th best time, 1:06.44, and Dylan Martinez and Jamar Prewitt finished in 12th place with a total time of 1:07.46.
On the women’s side, Jess Olson and Michaela Ross crossed the finish line first for the Bison in sixth place with a time of 37:22.00. Brooke Bosworth and Rhianna Petrone as well as Ashley Worst and Alexi Pyles also broke the top ten. Bowsorth and Petrone finished eighth with a total time of 39:13.00 and Worst and Pyles came next with a ninth place finish (40:14.00).
The host Muskies took home first place in the meet on both the men’s and women’s sides. The pair of AJ Barber and Ryan Dodd finished the men’s race in first with a time of 59:05, while Julie Forbes and Jami Durkee took home first place for the Muskies on the women’s side with a time of 34:38.00.
The Bison will be back in action on Saturday, September 7, when they host the Bethany Invitational. The women will get underway with a 6k race at 10:30, with the men running an 8k after the conclusion of the women’s event.
