Nov. 14 – CARLISLE, Pa. – The Bethany College cross-country teams participated in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The Bison men placed 42nd, led by Ryan Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) who earned 86th overall.
For the men, Haverford College took first place in the team results. Haverford’s Charlie Marquardt placed first with a time of 25:14.8.
Donnelly led the Bison men as he finished the 8k race with a time of 27:17.4. Donnelly averaged a 5:29.4 per mile pace.
Alexander Michalenko (Moon Township, Pa./OLSH) and Lucas Liriano (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) were the next two finishers for Bethany. Michalenko finished in 29:51.9 while Liriano was close behind at 30:08.5.
Austin Davis (Honolulu, Hawaii/Moanalua) and Donald Bierhals (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) rounded out the top five for the Bison. The two finished right after each other, with Davis at 30:42.1 and Bierhals at 30:44.6.
John Hopkins was the overall winner for the women as they had the top-three runners on the day. Sophia Meehan took first in the event with a final time of 21:46.2.
For the women, Michaela Ross (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua) led the Bison in the 6k with a time of 24:53.6, good for 130th overall. Kelsea Martz (Hedgesville, W. Va./Hedgesville) was the next runner to cross the finish line (25:35.6) for the Green & White, finishing in 172nd.
Brooke Bosworth (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) and Ashley Worst (Apollo, Pa./Apollo-Ridge) also competed for Bethany. Bosworth and Worst finished with times of 26:58.3 and 28:00.7, respectively.
