Oct. 4 – YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - The Bethany College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Pitt-Greensburg/WCCC Invitational on Saturday morning. The women finished third out of 10 teams, while the men also participated.
The women were led by seniors Rhianna Petrone (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and Jessica Olson (Moon, Pa./Moon), as well as sophomore Michaela Ross (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua ). Petrone turned in a third-place finish, notching a time of 19:46.7. Olson grabbed fifth place in a field of 86 runners with a time of 20:07.6. Ross rounded out the trio with a time of 20:39.8, finishing in 13th place.
The men were led by freshman Donald Bierhals (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) as well as sophomores David Camacho (Harlingen, Texas/Tuloso-Midway) and William Cazares (Harlingen, Texas/Tuloso-Midway). Bierhals recorded the best time for the Bison men, finishing with a 30:04.6. Cazares logged a time of 32:38.4, while Camacho crossed with a time of 38:46.2.
The Bison will compete next on Saturday, Oct. 18 as they travel to Oberlin, Ohio for the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble. The race is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
