Sept. 8 - WHEELING, W.Va. – The Bethany College men’s and women’s cross country teams ran at the 1st annual Bob Creamer Memorial Invitational yesterday, which was hosted by Wheeling Jesuit University at Wheeling Park High School.

The Bison women, who were without injured sophomore Maggie McCort (Fort Ashby, W.Va./Frankfort), placed second out of three teams with 40 points, as Wheeling Jesuit finished with 18 and Ohio Valley University had 76. BC’s men, who competed without last week’s PAC Runner of the Week Zach Foster (Shadyside, Ohio/Bellaire St. John’s), took third out of three in a closer competition, as WJU totaled 28, Ohio Valley had 42 and Bethany scored 50.

The women’s race featured three BC runners finishing in the top 10. Freshman Suzanne Stettinius (Parkton, Md./Hereford) finished sixth with a time of 22:34. Right behind her in seventh was senior Chantal Stettinius (Parkton, Md./Hereford) in 23:00 and freshman Emily Roth (Bexley, Ohio) claimed eighth place by crossing in 23:05.

Three more Bethany women finished in the top 15, led by sophomore Desiree Finley (Nanticoke, Pa./Hanover Area) in 11th (23:45), sophomore Alissa Moss (Washington, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) in 13th (24:03) and freshman Lindsay Brewer (Wadsworth, Ohio) in 15th (24:51).

In the men’s event, freshman Clifford Arbogast (Cameron, W.Va.) was the top BC runner by taking ninth place with a time of 32:10.7, as he was barely beaten out for eighth place by just .5 seconds by Brandon Grissom of Ohio Valley. Sophomore Patrick Miller (Canonsburg, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) finished 14th in a time of 34:35.

Next Saturday, both Bethany teams will run at Marietta (Ohio) College, their third straight competition, before taking a week off prior to competing at the Rio Grande (Ohio) Invitational Sept. 29.
