Oct. 5 - FREDERICK, Md. – Freshman Danielle Maddex (Eden, N.Y.) scored her first collegiate goal, but it was the only score posted by the Bethany College field hockey team in a 7-1 loss at Hood (Md.) College Friday night.
The home team put the opening score of the game on the board at the 15:07 mark of the first half. Hood (2-7) would post two more goals before halftime to build a 3-0 lead at the intermission and then struck again at the 43:55 mark to make it 4-0.
The Bison (1-9) tallied their goal a few minutes later. Maddex (right) was able to finish off an assist from freshman Courtney Snyder (Bristol, Pa.) and the Bison had trimmed the Hood lead to 4-1 with more than 23 minutes to play.
The rest of the scoring would come from the home team with goals in the 52nd, 57th and 66th minutes. Hood finished the game with a 29-4 advantage in shots and had 21 penalty corners to BC’s four. Bison freshman goalie Jacqueline Harrison (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) recorded 12 saves in the pipes for the Green and White.
Bethany is scheduled to return to action Thursday with a road game at Denison (Ohio) University, which will begin at 7:30 p.m.
