August 7 - LATROBE, Pa. - The Bethany College football team, which finished the 2012 season with a record of 3-7, was picked to finish fifth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference preseason poll, announced the conference office on Wednesday afternoon in Latrobe.
Defending PAC champion Washington & Jefferson College was selected as the preseason number one, garnering 16 of 32 first place votes. Thomas More College was picked second with 10 first place votes and Waynesburg University was selected third with six votes.
The Bison and first year head coach Bill Garvey came in tied for fifth in the voting with Geneva College. "I'm very excited to get this season underway," commented Garvey. "This is the first year I have been able to attend this event as a head coach, and it was an enjoyable experience. We are just excited to get to work, and get the season going."
Senior quarterback Matt Grimard joined coach Garvey in the day's festivities. "We have been talking all off-season about doing that little extra to be able to turn all the close losses into victories this year," remarked Grimard. "As a team, we are really focused coming into camp."
The Bison open the regular season on Saturday, September 7 when they travel to Centre College and will open their home schedule on September 21, when they play host to Randolph-Macon.
