Nov. 17 - DANBURY, Conn. - For just the second time in program history, the Bethany College football program (6-4) will play a postseason contest, as the team has been invited to participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southeast Regional bowl game, announced the ECAC on Sunday evening.
The Bison earn the team's first postseason trip since the 1980 campaign, by finishing the season with a 6-4 overall record. The Green & White opened the season posting wins in five of their first six contests and became bowl eligible with a 34-9 victory over Grove City on Nov. 1.
The Bison will travel to Owings Mills, Md. to compete in the bowl game as Bethany has been chosen to travel to Stevenson University to take on a Mustang squad that finished the regular season with a 7-3 record. Just like the Bison, Stevenson earned a fourth-place finish in their conference, posting a 6-3 record in the Metro Athletic Conference this season.
Bethany's berth in the ECAC Southeast Regional bowl game marks the end of a 34-year wait for a post-season contest for the Bison. The team's previous trip to the post season was in 1980 when the Green & White competed in the NCAA Division-III National Championship playoffs.
The meeting between the Mustangs and Bison is scheduled for this coming Saturday, November 22. Time of the contest has yet to be determined, and more details on the matchup are to come.
