March 22 - BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College junior British Alexander (Dayton, Ohio/Trotwood Madison) received another award after his outstanding season for the Bison men’s basketball team, as he was selected Second Team All-ECAC South Region.
This is the second award for Alexander following his first season at Bethany, as he earned First Team All-PAC recognition. Also a two-time PAC and one-time ECAC Player of the Week selection, the 6-6 forward led the conference and set a new Bethany single-season record with 67 blocked shots. In addition, Alexander was 11th in the PAC in scoring with 13.3 points per game, second in rebounding with 8.8, seventh in field goal percentage at 50.3 and eighth in steals with 1.62, all while playing the second-most minutes in the league with 34.00.
Highlighting Alexander’s big first year with the Bison were six double-doubles, including a huge effort in the PAC championship game. In Bethany’s 74-67 victory at top-seeded Thiel, he totaled 19 points, 12 rebounds, five blocked shots and five steals, as BC clinched its seventh NCAA Tournament bid in school history by capturing their 13th league crown, the most in conference history.
Although Bethany came up short in a 70-58 loss in the NCAA Tournament first round game against Manchester (Ind.) College, Alexander narrowly missed another double-double with nine points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots as well.
A communications major, British is the son of Marion Grigsby and David Alexander of Dayton, Ohio.
