Feb. 26 - GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College senior Nick Wilcox (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) was named First Team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Monday for the fourth time in his career, putting him in a select group in Bison men’s basketball history.
With the accolade, Wilcox becomes just the fourth Bethany player in program history to be named All-PAC all four years of his career. He joins Rick Cipullo (1962-65), Keith Schubert (1999-2002) and Matt Drahos (2003-06) as the only players in BC’s 55-year history in the PAC to be recognized as an all-conference player four times.
Last year’s PAC Player of the Year, Wilcox turned in another stellar all-around season to earn the all-league distinction this season. He led the Bison and ranked 12th in the PAC in scoring with 12.7 points per game. Wilcox also leads the PAC and sits fifth in all of Division III with 3.2 steals per game, ranked second in the conference with 7.9 rebounds a contest and blocked 1.0 shots per outing, tied for fourth in the circuit. He registered six double-doubles this season, which brought his career total to 17 for his time at Bethany.
Wilcox will have a chance to add to his all-time numbers this week, as the Bison play in the ECAC Tournament starting Wednesday at fourth-seeded LaRoche. The 6-3 forward broke the school’s all-time record for steals last year as a junior and has 304 for his career. He also ranks sixth on the Bethany all-time list in three other categories, including points (1,445), rebounds (786) and assists (280). Wilcox is one of only three players ever at BC to score over 1,400 points and snare more than 750 rebounds, as he joins Matt and Mike Drahos.
A pre-physical therapy major, Nick is the son of David and Sharon Lacey of Venetia, Pa.
