Feb. 18 – BETHANY, W. Va. – After helping the Bison men’s basketball team pull into a tie for first place in the conference with a 85-65 win over Saint Vincent on Saturday, junior Delonte’ Joyce (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) was named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week.
Joyce was selected for one of the guard positions after establishing a new career high in points, scoring 31 against the Bearcats, helping to hand Saint Vincent its first conference home loss in 20 games. Joyce shot 12-of-20 from the field (60 percent) and converted on seven-of-seven from the charity stripe. He also stuffed the stat sheet, adding five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Joyce has been a figure of consistency this season, ranking fourth in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference in points per game, averaging 16.8 per contest. He also ranks among the nation’s best defenders, ranking third in all of Division-III in steals per game (3.23).
With his second 30-point game under his belt this season, Joyce became the first player in the PAC to register multiple 30-point performances this year.
“We are extremely proud of the way Delonte’ has improved his game within our system,” remarked fifth-year head coach Andrew Sachs. “He has taken the opportunities that he has been given and really flourished, helping us constantly on both ends of the floor.”
Joyce and the Bison will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 19, when they play host to the Saints of Thomas More College. The game is set for an 8 p.m. start.
