April 21 - BETHANY, W.Va. – Wesley scored 10 first-quarter goals and went on to claim a 25-2 victory over the Bethany College men’s lacrosse team Sunday afternoon at Bison Stadium.
The Wolverines opened the scoring with a goal just eight seconds into the game. The Bison scored their first goal at the 1:40 mark of the first quarter on an unassisted score by senior Kyle Arrington (right - Jackson Twp., Ohio/Jackson).
Wesley built a 10-1 cushion by the end of the first quarter and the Wolverines added four more goals in the second. Bethany posted its second score just before the halftime buzzer sounded, as senior Zach Gordon (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) ripped a shot into the mesh to make it a 14-2 score at the break. The only goals in the second half were scored by Wesley, who posted five in the third period and six more in the fourth.
Bethany junior C.J. Studnicky (Severna Park, Md.) started in goal and stopped 24 shots while also gathering in a team-leading seven ground balls. Sophomore Brendan Wessells (Severna Park, Md.) had six ground balls as well.
The Bison will conclude its regular season next Saturday by hosting Baldwin Wallace next Saturday at 1 p.m.
